On the 23rd May 2015 the most glamorous night of the charity calendar year came upon us once again, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of The Battle of Waterloo. The night, as always, was filled with glitz and glam as well as the odd novelty tie! Gillian Creevy, Chief Executive of The Cancer Fund for Children, The Waterloo Ball’s partnering charity, described the event as “the party of year, with top supporters working hard to raise money for children”.
Robin Walsh, President of The Lords Taverners NI also spoke highly of night saying, “The Lords Taverners is here for young people with special needs, young people who need mobility, to get to places they other wise wouldn’t get too. It’s occasions like these that makes that possible”.
Throughout the night there was a host of A-List entertainment beginning with fantastic performances from The Overtones as well as Fiddler Adam and the Petri School of Irish Dance. Heather Small and M People added the celebrity wow factor to the evening, performing a selection of their most famous hits topped off by Belfast’s own Mannuka Honey, who ended the evening with a bang!
A huge thank you is in order to the main sponsors for the night, Charles Hurst Premium, who dazzled all the guests with fantastic premium car displays inside and outside the venue. Other generous sponsors include Emirates, Hughes Insurance and Lunn’s The Jewelers, who provided us with many prestigious items for our auction and prize draws including Holidays to Dubai, Wimbledon Tickets, Sparkling diamond jewelry and many, many more!
Past presidents such as Chris Tarrant and Bill Tiddy, were also among the 900 guests who attended this year’s Waterloo Ball. Chris Tarrant ended the night by saying, “I always leave the Waterloo Ball saying how I have had such a ridiculously good night, yet again!”.
To all supporters, guests and sponsors, a big thank you is to be said for all your generous contributions to The Lords Taverners! We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
